Mthabeleni Consultants is a Civil Engineering Professional Consultants that provides Civil Engineering services. This company is based in Pietermaritzburg (KZN) and Polokwane (Limpopo Province). We are looking for a Design Engineer: Roads and Storm Water to be part of the Pietermaritzburg Team in KwaZulu-Natal.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bsc Civil or B-Tech in Civil /Structural Engineering with ECSA Professional Registration
• Minimum work experience 5-10 years
• Experience in the design of roads, structures and storm water.
• Experience should include projects where the candidate has been involved in design and project management

SOFTWARE

Proficiency in the following software is essential:

• Civil Designer or Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MS Projects and Microsoft Office User

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate will be based at the office and Site and undertake site visits from time to time as deemed necessary, which include the following:

• Leading the design and development of civil engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes and regulations
• Operation and management of KZN Team
• Preliminary designs of roads, structures and storm water.
• Conducting site visits and surveys to gather data for design purposes
• Developing detailed engineering drawings, plans, and specifications using specialised software
• Collaborating with architects, engineers, and other professionals to ensure coordinated project design and execution
• Reviewing and analysing technical documents, reports, and calculations to verify accuracy and feasibility
• Conducting feasibility studies and cost estimations for proposed projects
• Overseeing project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
• Liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to address design related queries and issues
• Conducting quality control checks on design deliverables to maintain high standards of accuracy and completeness
• Keeping abreast of industry advancements, best practises, and emerging technologies in civil engineering design
• Adhering to health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the design process
• Storm water design, master planning and site construction experience would be an added advantage

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES

• Proficiency in English with high level verbal and written communication skills
• Computer skills and knowledge of other office devices and applications or willing to learn
• Good interpersonal skills, good report writing skills
• Strong Excel skills and capability
• Good organizing skills
